I am in Italy for Terra Madre 2006, a world meeting of food communities. There are 5000 delegates-- chefs, university researchers, farmers, food producers, and observers--representing 1500 food communities in 183 countries. We are here to discuss and set forth a system of producing food that is good, clean and fair for all--an alternative to fast food culture and the dominant industrial model of agriculture.
I’ll post more in the next week, but in the meantime you can read more about the conference on the Terra Madre blog or at the Terra Madre website. There are some beautiful portraits of the delegates here.
I am so happy for you! Sorry we couldn't socialize when I was in San Diego: my time was so limited. I'll be back down, and would love to hook up then.
Ciao, bella!
